Lightbulb New Armor Textures for Existing Armor

I'm not an expert on this, but how difficult would it be for ANet to retexture some of the older armors as an option. Like having a different style or three for each skin. For example, I kind of like the istani and 15K sunspear el armors, but I don't think I'd get them because the first has those runes on the design and the second needs to have more of a dyable area to it. Same goes for warrior ascalon armor (the charr armor). Looks nice, but not enough of it is dyable IMO.

I think it would be nice if there were an armor-stylist that could retexture some of the armors for you.

New Armor Textures for Existing Armor = new armor.

You are basically asking for new armor or more variety.

Problem is...the styles are already set in the game and it's unlikely ANet would want to open a whole new can of worms by changing people's existing armor.

ANet will just release new armor skins in future chapters.

Did I just confuse textures with skins?

I don't want them to change the shapes of the armor, but the looks of them.

They've done that once with the armor updates almost a year ago before factions came out.

Interesting. I guess its the "poor men's way" of adding more armor style. But adding more stuff and items and fashion always attract players, so its a sound, good, valid, feastible, and well though idea. Kudos for Winterclaw.

And what are texture change? Think Hero's armor, and how its look change, but not the shape.

I do think the Prophecy Armors need some polish on the armor texture and details, compare to how Factions and Nightfall armors look atm, Prophecy armors look "rough".

Options to get a more detail-textured Prophecy armor, would be nice.

I like it, although some armors are just texture swaps.

1.5 Kurz war -> 15k kurz war. same polys, different texture.

Perhaps there could be 4-5 different 15k kurz armors, with slightly different patterns on the metal plats, but its overall the same armor.

Ah... young children, what you ask already is:

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Element...n_Armor/Female
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Element...s_Armor/Female

Since that is easier than new models, they could do that to add new armors to old campaings, they could even make a Skin contest or something to save work.

Mithran, that's part of what I was talking about.

Here are some other ideas I've been thinking of just to get the ideas started:
Warrior armor
-Tyrian Chainmail armor: make the chain part colorable.
-Dragon Armor: make the non-colorable brown parts red, blue, white, green, etc as options.
-Ascalon/Char Armor: I think this one would look neat with a scale motif. Sort of like dragon/wyvern part 2.
-1.5K male platemail: lose the pig on it
-Knights armor: I think it would be nice if the colorable areas dyed a little more like tyrian cleavers... meaning it has a gradient coloring effect.
-Warrior Luxon armor: anyone else think they could replace those spikes with feathers? Another idea would be an all metal look.
-Istani: the rhinos (rhino beetles?) are cool, but dragons would work too. Another idea would be to give it a paragonish wing motif.

Monk Armor
I think a dwayna motif or maybe balthazar would work with a lot of the monk armors.
Male tattoos: for some reason, I think there should be at least one of them that has a tattoo of a heart with "mom" in it.
Female tattoos: could use some butterflies or dolphins
Tattoos in general: these would probably have one of the larger potentials for variety.

Any other game/software skins and textures are the same thing. But no, not here......god forbid....

I don't think an option for more skins would be needed at all, though the work would be small.

I do believe however that it would actually decrease playability of the game on lower end machines, atleast in towns, it's already getting a bit worse with each expansion(I've got a great system except for just 512 ram....so I tend to notice post-loading screen loading times)

As another poster already said... making new skins is basically making new armor.

Since the core professions have a choice of atleast 8 armors now and the unique professions have around 4-6 armors to choose from, why do you want to make completely new skins for existing ones?

Its a bit anti-productive in my opinion and a waste of effort. We have a very wide choice of armor in GWs due to the staggering effort that Anet has made.

I personally wouldnt want to re-skin armor that Ive already got. Plus we have dye to change the look of it and you can mix and match armor pieces. Im not saying all the armor in game looks amazing, because Anet has made some right hash jobs on some.

But there is enough choice to go elsewhere.

/notsigned because we just dont need it, due to the wide choice of armor we already have.
